EXTRA CURRICULAR ACTIVITIES

Visits
Teachers regularly take students out on visits both during and outside school hours. These visits form part of the school curriculum and enhance pupils’ learning and social development.

School Journeys
Each year some students will have the opportunity to go on a residential school journey. Not all pupils can be accommodated each year but the school tries to ensure that each student has the opportunity to go on at least one residential trip while at the school.

Social Events
The school holds a variety of social events throughout the school year. These include performances by pupils and fund- raising activities.


Sports Coaching
Evening coaching sessions by professional coaches or players are arranged by the PE Department at different times of the year.

Dance Club
Dance sessions are held at lunchtimes each week by a trained dance teacher. There are opportunities for dance club members to perform at functions both inside and outside school.

Girls’ Group
This provides the girls with an opportunity to discuss issues which concern young women. The group aims to create a safe environment where young women can share their experiences and feel positive about themselves. The Girls’ Group meets during lunchtimes and after school.

Gardening Club
This takes place on one evening each week where students are supported in developing the school environment. The sessions are led by a local gardener and a member of the school staff.

Computers
Regular lunchtime and after school sessions are held where students can use the internet, use school software, play games or complete pieces of work. They can also use digital cameras, scanners and printers.

Snooker /Pool
Snooker or pool is offered as a regular lunch time activity.

Basket Ball
Basket ball is played in the playground at lunch-time and there is an evening coaching session each week with a fully qualified coach.

Football
Football games can be played in the football cage in the playground every lunch time.

Cricket
Cricket sessions are held during the Summer Term after school with a qualified coach.

Tennis
A tennis club is held on one lunchtime each week.

Indoor Activities
Some students prefer quiet activities inside school at lunchtimes and facilities are made available as necessary.

French Club
This club is held on one lunchtime each week.

Music Club
This club is held on two lunchtime each week. Students can sing, dance or listen to music of their choice.

History Club
Sessions are held at different times of year during lunch-time.

Maths Club
This is run on two lunchtimes each week. Activities are computer based.

Games Club
A boys only games club is held on one evening each week.

Lunchtime activities may vary during the year according to demand and staff availability.
